What If Aliens Are Pure Energy? The Post-Biological Theory
Watch: The Post-Biological Theory
What is the Post-Biological Theory?
The Post-Biological Theory suggests that biological life (flesh and blood) is merely a temporary "boot loader" for intelligence. According to this hypothesis, advanced civilizations inevitably merge with or transition into pure energy or synthetic substrates to overcome the physical limitations of space travel and aging.
We usually imagine aliens as "little green men" or grey humanoids arriving in metal ships. But what if that idea is millions of years out of date? At What Then Studio, we ask the questions that shift our perspective on the universe.
The Kardashev Scale: Beyond Biology
To understand why aliens might discard their bodies, we look to the Kardashev Scale. A Type I civilization controls its planet. A Type II controls its star. A Type III controls its galaxy.
At Type II and above, the energy requirements are so vast that carrying a heavy, fragile biological body becomes inefficient. Theoretical physicists argue that a sufficiently advanced species would upload their consciousness into light or radiation—allowing them to travel at light speed without a spaceship.
Evidence on Earth? The Hessdalen Lights
If aliens are made of pure energy, we wouldn't see them landing on the White House lawn. We would see them as anomalies of light and radiation. A prime example is the Hessdalen Lights in Norway, where scientists have recorded phenomena that defy simple "dusty plasma" explanations.
Observed Intelligent Behaviors:
- Tracking: The lights appear to follow observers or react to their presence.
- Reaction to Technology: Documented instances of the lights flaring up in response to laser pointers.
- Geometric Organization: Formation of structured clusters rather than random gas dispersion.
The Perspective Shift: We Are the Ghosts
The most chilling thought isn't that they are watching us—it's how they see us. To a being of pure energy that moves at the speed of light, we are the slow ones.
We are the heavy, dense creatures trapped in decaying matter. To them, we are the ghosts haunting a physical world they left behind eons ago. Are the "Grays" just biological drones for a higher form of life? Or is the universe teeming with minds we can't even see?
